At Moonletters Press our present goal is to make a wide selection of material available to the public, and the main thing we'll be adding is chapbooks. If you're a new writer, artist or poet eager to see your work in print you may want to submit to us. Most of our chapbooks will have a print run under a thousand, and will be in a digest or 8 1/2 X 14 format (Scav size). What we publish will not be fancy or expensive (yet), but we will and do take pride in the author's we choose to publish. If you're just starting out, submitting to us could be a great way to get your material in print.
Here's what we're looking for:
SMALL POETRY CHAPBOOKS:
We are open to all kinds of poetry from sci-fi to romantic, from classic to free verse. However, we are not looking for the following at this time:
1) Poetry that contains profanity.
2) Vampire Poetry.
3) Splatter poetry (i.e. blood, guts and gore).
To submit, send the poems you would like us to consider. There isn't a limit on the amount you may send, but please note that we plan to publish small poetry chapbooks. If you send 50 poems we may choose only 20 for the chapbook, depending on length. Important: Please state what are submitting your poems for in your cover letter. If you don't I may not know which project you'd like your poetry considered for.
SMALL CHAPBOOKS OF FICTION:
We are interested in doing chapbooks of fiction, with the entire body of work totalling no more than 8000 words. This could be an 8000 word story, or several short shorts. All genres are welcome, but please note that we do not want profanity or descriptive sex. Genres we are fond of are sci-fi, fantasy, and anything that is set in a world besides our own. Romance is welcome too.
BOB'S GUIDE TO...
Have you written a guide to the universe? How about a guidebook on etiquette that makes Miss Manners seem like a slob? If so, submit your "how to" manual to us. If it is humorous and under 8000 words all the better. No profanity or bawdy material please...
CHRISTIAN MATERIAL:
If you're a Christian who feels called to minister through fiction (preferably speculative fiction) or have a collection of Christian articles, teachings, etc. we're interested in seeing your work.
ARTISTS:
We need people to design covers and illustrate stories, but we're also open to artists who would like their work available in a booklet form through Moonletters Press. When submitting please let us know what you're interested in. If it is just illustrating say so, and include a couple of black and white copies that we may keep on file. If you would like your artwork to be considered for chapbook format let us know and send all that you would like considered. Comics are welcome too, but keep in mind the sizes we will be publishing in, digest or 8 1/2 X 14. Note: For all artwork send copies (not originals) and include your phone number or email as well as postal address. When I need an artist I like to contact them quickly, so if you provide your phone number I'm more likely to contact you.
Author's will receive ten copies of their chapbook, plus 25% off of any chapbooks they wish to purchase through Moonletters Press. Chapbooks will be made available through the Moonletters Press Catalog. We take one-time rights.
